A brief history of Giardini Pellami Leather

Tracing its roots back to the post-World War era, the Giardini family has established a formidable legacy in the leather industry.

It began with Nonno Guido's insightful decision to supply local shoemakers with quality leather, a move that secured their position as regional leaders in Marche.

Under the visionary leadership of Giuseppe Giardini in the 1970s, the company extended its reach beyond Italian borders, embracing international markets. This strategic expansion saw the importation of materials from continents like South America, Australia, and Asia.

Guided by Giuseppe's sons, Glauco and Gabriele, Giardini Pellami diversified into creating innovative products, paving the way into new markets such as India and South Africa. Today, the company is a dynamic participant in the upholstery, automotive, and shoemaking industries, spanning markets in Italy, Germany, South Africa, India, Portugal, and China.

Understanding Leather Products

Having a comprehensive understanding of the varying types of leather is crucial when making informed decisions for your upcoming production run or project.

At The Noble Hide Company, we strive to empower our customers with a deeper understanding of leather and its various applications to ensure the best possible results when using our leather products.

Our Leather

By familiarising yourself with these fundamental leather concepts, you can make well-informed choices when selecting the ideal material for your next project.

Full Grain

This leather is produced from the top grain of the hide and is considered the strongest type of leather. The natural grain of the leather is maintained and is not corrected in any way. Natural defects such as healed scars and tick bites etc are retained and serve to enhance the natural beauty and texture of the leather.

Full Aniline

This particular leather is imbued with soluble dyes, allowing the natural splendour of the hide to radiate without the use of a topcoat. The beauty of the natural markings of the top grain leather are maintained.

Semi-Aniline

Similar to full aniline, but with a delicate protective coating for enhanced longevity, while still preserving the innate natural qualities of the leather. The application of dyes in the process of producing semi-aniline leathers allows for greater colour consistency.

Corrected Grain

This leather is still produced from the top grain but has undergone a process of buffing and sanding to eliminate natural flaws. The grain is then restored by a process of mechanical embossing thus providing a more uniform grain pattern.

Semi-Corrected Grain

Similar to corrected grain, this leather retains its original, natural characteristics, while undergoing minimal correcting methods to improve its visual appeal and resulting in a subtle grain pattern without concealing the natural characteristics of the leather.
